- Vesna’s themes are epic and universal, demanding answers to the problems of LOVE, ALIENATION, IDENTITY…in the scenario of contemporary western society. Her sculpture deals with the extremes of PASSION at the HEART of LIFE where power is coupled with poignancy, expressive angst with sensitive subtlety, containment with catharsis… Many of the figures are poised on, but not over the edge of BREAKDOWN, JEALOUSY, MADNESS… … “This desire for INERPERSONAL FUSION is the most powerful striving in man. It is the most fundamental passion; it is the force that keeps the human race, together. The failure to achieve it means insanity or destruction – self destruction or destruction of others”. The above statement is taken from “The Art of Loving” by the psychologist Erich Fromm.
